Knotty Barrel Gastropub is downtown San Diego located in East Village. We feature fine, locally-sourced food and a selection of over 100 local, domestic and imported beers from around the world, including over twenty craft beers on tap. We pride ourselves on partnering with local farmers and vendors to provide our guests with the freshest ingredients possible. Some signature ingredients that our Chef, Julian Peres enjoys working with are local fresh produce, Duroc bacon, all natural chicken, and beef. You can rest assured that all of our meats are hormone and pesticide free.

Chef, Julian Peres, was born in Brawley, CA and raised in El Centro.

Julian’s love of cooking started at home with his dad and grandfather. They spent their time in the kitchen laughing, joking and creating meals for the family. Julian has continued his love for cooking since then, remembering it as a fun family time. His passions in life include cooking, sports, music, and a love of dogs.

His Bulldog, Buddy is his cooking companion at home. Julian enjoys Mediterranean Style Cooking which he learned while at USD La Gran Terraza. He began his cooking career at the young age of 15 and prior to Knotty Barrel his tenure includes USD La Gran Terraza, Henry’s Pub, Hard Rock Café, and Seasons 52. Julian enjoys being a part of the Knotty Barrel family.

He leads with his heart and soul and looks forward to making the Knotty expansion a success with his stamp on our dishes in the kitchen.
